About Simply Effective
Simply Effective is a one-person operation.
I don't hide behind the editorial "we" on this web site or anywhere else. I like being a one-person operation, and I hope you'll like doing business with one. It has its minuses to be sure, but I think you'll find the pluses outweigh them.
You might worry that I'll be too busy to be available to you. I think you'll find that the opposite is true. I never take on more than one significant development job at a time; as a result, my clients find me amazingly responsive.
Where I've Been
After earning a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Cornell in 1973, I joined Eastman Kodak Company in Rochester, New York. I thought from the start that I wanted to work in a small company environment, but I enjoyed almost 28 years with Kodak.
After 13 years in product development, I began to develop computer systems to support engineering teams. In both settings, I was drawn to focus on user interface issues, with a passion for crafting the best possible experience for the users of my products. That same passion fuels me in my work now.
In my time at Kodak, I trained many many people. Honestly, most of them endured training classes that I ran. But the happiest ones had one-on-one experiences that shaped my thinking about Simply Effective training.
Along the way, I cut my web development teeth building sites on the Kodak intranet.
Where I'm Going
I left Kodak to take on work that meets three criteria:
- fun work
- with nice people
- on a mission that feels important
By and large, you'll find me doing community service work these days. I co-chair the Brighton Education Fund, and I contribute in several ways to Flower City Habitat for Humanity. And I build and maintain web sites for both.
It's a very rewarding life! And it leaves time for Simply Effective web sites and training. Let me know how I can help you!
